Bible Reference Website...

Yo, that bible reference website I mentioned during the call is www.blueletterbible.com. It's similar to your normal bible search engine, but I prefer it over the other ones that I've come across. In the right hand corner under, "search the bible" is where you can put in words like "excellent" or "trust" and it will pull up all the scriptures that has the word in it.

If you look to the left on the main menu screen, you'll find a tab called, "Study Tools." There's some pretty good stuff on there... Search the site out and post any good findings...

Be diligent!!!

"The Devotional Lounge"

New idea!!! Thank God for revelation...

This post is called "The Devotional Suite." Since we all read different devotionals, the Lord gave me an idea to spark a Blog to place all the different devotions that we want other heads to peep... something that we think may be a blessing to another reader...

Guest will spark the first one and I'll look to read everyone's as they flow in...

Remember, we're praying every Tuesday and Friday mornings at 5:30 AM. The number is 712-432-0600 and the pin number is 836736#. When the system asks you to state your name, the password is, "I Made It!!!"... (LOL... Shout out to Kris)

The Names of God...

qué está arriba everyobdy!!!

Here's a study we all can do... Let's study all the different names of God. Here's the first one with a little explanation.

El Shaddai

(el shad-di')
All-Sufficient One, Lord God Almighty

Use in the Bible: In the Old Testament El Shaddai occurs 7 times. El Shaddai is first used in Gen 17:1.

Meaning and Derivation: El is another name that is translated as "God" and can be used in conjunction with other words to designate various aspects of God's character. Another word much like Shaddai, and from which many believe it derived, is shad meaning "breast" in Hebrew (some other scholars believe that the name is derived from an Akkadian word Šadu, meaning "mountain," suggesting strength and power). This refers to God completely nourishing, satisfying, and supplying His people with all their needs as a mother would her child. Connected with the word for God, El, this denotes a God who freely gives nourishment and blessing, He is our sustainer.

Further references of the name El Shaddai in the Old Testament: Gen 17:1; Gen 28:3; Gen 35:11; Gen 43:14; Gen 48:3

The Devil's Attitude Towards Us...

Hey,

I writing a paper right now at Starbucks (it's due at 6:20 pm... oh MY!!!) about how Holiness changes things... (That's a working title...) So anyway, I reading a story titled, "The Life of Anthony of Egypt". It's about this guy named Anthony who decided to live a life of COMPLETE discipline. He was a Christian monk. Strict dude...

So as the devil tries to convince Anthony not to journey down the path of holiness (how many times has that happened to you) and his (the devil) last attempt to trip Anthony up is to appear in the form of a boy and talk to him. Anthony asks him who he is and that's where we pick up... Check this out...

the devil speaking....

"Many I deceived, many I casts down; but now attacking you and thy labors as I had many others, I proved weak." When Anthony asked, Who are you who speaks thus with me? he answered with a lamentable voice, "I am the friend of whoredom, and have taken upon me incitements which lead to it against the young. I am called the spirit of lust. How many have I deceived who wished to live soberly, how many are the chaste whom my incitements I have over-persuaded! I am he on account of whom also the prophet reproves those who have fallen, saying, "You have been caused to err by the spirit of whoredom." For by me they have been tripped up. I am he who have so often troubled you..."

- The Life of Anthony of Egypt, Readings in World Christian History, Volume 1: Earliest Christianity to 1453, pg 133.

Reading this it made me think how the enemy's utmost goal is to deceive and trip us up. Homey don't like us and we shouldn't like him. The devil has no good intentions whatsoever for us as Christians. He is totally, 110% against us.

I'll post Anthony's response later... Gotta get back to writing...
